Many ladies are wearing bras with too large a band, and cups too small. This may cause discomfort as well as not bringing out the best in your figure.
If the band is too large, it will tend to ride up at the back (although this might not happen for extra large ladies depending their figure). The band should be horizontal when you view yourself in profile. The shoulder straps may also be digging into your shoulders. Keep in mind that these straps are not there to carry the weight of your bust, which is actually supported by the band (strapless bras demonstrate this well).
For extra large ladies, it can be harder to measure and establish your correct band size. Depending on your shape, you may find that the correct size is smaller than your measurements suggest? A bit of trial and error may help if you are having trouble establishing a good fit? You might also find that non-wired bras are much more comfortable. Sadly, there is a more limited choice of non-wired bras that look good, but there are a few to be found at Simply Yours.
When establishing your correct bra size, keep in mind that different makers use different cup sizing systems (as if life wasn't complex enough!). Some use all the double and single letters, G, GG, H, HH etc. and others use DD and then just single letters, E, F, G, etc. I have a conversion chart to help you out.
